Sebastian Stan and Ana de Armas star in IMPUNITY, an espionage thriller produced in Spain by Zeta Studios and Rei Pictures

Zeta Studios and Rei Pictures consolidate their position as leading producers of high-end film projects with the announcement of IMPUNITY, a high-octane international espionage thriller. The film will be directed by the award-winning Chilean filmmaker Felipe Gálvez (The Settlers, FIPRESCI Prize at Cannes).

This project positions Spain as a strategic hub and central production engine, while also serving as a natural bridge between Europe and Latin America. Zeta Studios (Elite, Smoke & Mirrors), renowned for its ability to create content with global reach, joins forces with Rei Pictures (Our Land, The Jockey, The Settlers) to lead a strong international co-production structure that also includes Pathé (France) —which will launch the project’s international sales at the Cannes Film Festival—, Ronda Cine (Chile), Quiddity (United Kingdom), Les Films du Worso (France), and Snowglobe (Denmark). 

The film will star Sebastian Stan (Oscar nominee for The Apprentice and star of the Avengers franchise) and Ana de Armas (Oscar nominee for Blonde and star of Ballerina, part of the John Wick saga). In addition to leading the cast, both actors serve as executive producers on the film, which will be set across Spain, Chile, and the United Kingdom. Shot in both English and Spanish, the cast is rounded out by acclaimed actors including Alfredo Castro (The Club, El Conde), Antonia Zegers (The Dogs, Too Late to Die Young), and Alejandro Goic.

Set in 1998, IMPUNITY delves into the shadows of power following the arrest of Augusto Pinochet in London, an operation driven from Spain by Judge Baltasar Garzón that sent shockwaves around the world: for the first time, a former dictator could lose his immunity and face justice beyond his own country. The story follows a Chilean envoy and an NGO mercenary caught in a labyrinth of betrayals and geopolitical manoeuvring, revealing how justice is negotiated behind closed doors while the real battle is fought in the shadows, far from the courtroom.

Ana de Armas and Sebastian Stan find themselves caught in a battle between conflicting interests, forced to navigate moral dilemmas while defending causes that challenge their own convictions.

“With IMPUNITY, I want to explore the erased pages of our history,” says director Felipe Gálvez. “To use the language of the espionage genre not to celebrate conspiracies, but to reveal how justice itself can be negotiated, delayed, and turned into a spectacle.” The screenplay, which features the collaboration of Mariano Llinás (Argentina, 1985), is based on the work of Philippe Sands, a renowned international lawyer and bestselling author known for transforming complex legal histories into compelling human stories.

For Zeta Studios, participating in this project represents a step forward in its international co-production strategy. The project also marks Rei Pictures’ debut in Spain, continuing its long-standing tradition of supporting auteur cinema with impeccable craftsmanship and political relevance.
